The Captor was designed to be an all-weather,
all-range, all-purpose 'Mech. Mounting weapons that offer
good damage potential at any range and enough armor to
slug it out with almost anyone else on the battlefield, this
'Mech can serve in any lance, from fire-support to front-line
combat. The only role this 'Mech doesn't fit into is that of
a scout, although it does have relatively good speed for a
Heavy 'Mech. This wide range of capabilites make it very
popular with commanders who can switch its role at a
moment's notice. It is also popular on missions that will
only allow for one or two 'Mechs, where its weapons load
doesn't provide an enemy with a safe place to attack from.
For long-range combat, the Captor carries a 10-tube
LRM rack in its right torso with 1 ton of ammunition. This
makes it very popular in support lances, where its LRMs
can contribute to the front-line combat while its other
weapons help to provide lance defense.
The Captor also mounts an ER-PPC in its right arm, which
comes into play inside the range of the LRMs. An enemy
who enters the range where these two weapons overlap
may soon find himself without a mount.
Backing up the PPC at medium range is 3 ER Medium
Lasers, which serve as short range weapons as well. If
anyone survives to get any closer to the Captor they will
soon find its single Medium Pulse Laser added into the
mix.
For defense the Captor carries two Anti-Missile Systems in
its left torso, which enhances the defensive capabilities
of this design's 12 tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor.
This 'Mech is ideal for use as a companion to the
CNR-2SW Cannoneer. Combining this model's all-range
capabilities with the Cannoneer's short-range firepower
can make a deadly pair indeed. Due to the fact that the
Cannoneer is considered one of the ugliest 'Mechs ever
designed, this pairing has earned the nickname "Beauty
and the Beast."
