Overview:
The Nova Wolf is the result of a joint effort between the Wolves-in-Exile and the Nova Cats to produce an all-around heavy assault 'Mech to correct the paucity of assault designs in both of their toumans, especially since their exodus from the Clans.. Combining the best feature of the Dire Wolf, Supernova, and Nova Cat, the Nova Wolf is poised to become the crown jewel of Clan OmniMechs, even though the Wolves and Nova Cats no longer follow the Way of the Clans.

Capabilities:
The Nova Wolf is designed to lay down massive amounts of firepower in any of its configurtions. The primary model mounts one large and two medium pulse lasers in each arm, and an ATM-9 launcher in each side torso, four tons of varied ammunition types supply the launchers. The Nova Cats acquired the ATM technology in their running battles with the other Clans escaping the Homeworlds, including Clan Coyote, developer of the ATM launcher. The Nova Wolf also sports a fixed ECM suite, as well as an active probe and a targeting computer for its lasers. Twenty-one freezers help keep overheating manageable under extended firing, and the 'Mech is defended by almost eighteen tons of standard slab armor. The Nova Wolf's speed is nothing exceptional, but the installation of jump jets in most configurations make it nimble for its size. Originally, plans called for a 400-rated extralight engine, but the engineers assigned to the project soon discovered that they could not achieve the same amount of pod space the design required. Additionally, given the commonality of the 300-series of extralight engines amongst Clan Omni- and BattleMechs, it was decided to use the smaller engine.

Deployment:
Brand-new (as of 3058) off the fabrication lines on Arc-Royal and Irece, the Nova Wolf has only just entered service in both Clans, with the first models going to the 13th Wolf Guards and the Nova Cat Keshik. The warriors who have been honored to pilot this new OmniMech love the way it handles and its varying choice of weapon deployment. The greatest numbers are of the primarily energy configurations, but the others are used on a mission-by-mission basis, so as to keep ammunition expenditure down. Once ATM's come into greater availability to both Clans, those configurations will become more common as well.

Battle History:
The Nova Wolf has already been baptised in combat in fighting against the Jade Falcons. In pitched fighting on Twycross, elements of the 13th Wolf Guards met forces from the Falcon Velites. The two Nova Wolves squared off against a heavy star of OmniMechs some ten miles from the site of the Falcon Guards' defeat in 3051, and subsequently tore them to shreds with their combined laser barrages. Two days later in the same campaign, the Nova Wolves, now sporting autocannons and Gauss rifles, were assigned to cover the liftoff of Wolf forces from Twycross, and performed admirably, accounting for almost two stars of light Falcon Omnis sent in pursuit of the departing Wolves.

Variants:
The Alpha configuration mounts a very similar weapons profile to the Supernova, containing only two extended-range large lasers mounted in the torsos, and upgrading the four others of the Supernova to pulse versions. This allows the Nova Wolf to carry a targeting computer, as ell as an ECM suite.

The Beta configuration uses an all-energy profile as well, but uses shorter-ranged equipment, and in greater numbers. This configurtion was first utilized on Dire Wolves in the Wolf Clan, and hs been dded to the standard list of configurations for the Nova Wolf. A single large pulse laser and four ER medium lasers occupy each arm, with four medium pulse lasers and an ER large laser in the torso. an ECM suite and targeting computer round out the design. Even though the configuration uses no ammunition-based weapons, it requires a pilot who can manage fire-control effectively.

The Charlie configuration is the third all-energy variant, demonstrating of the Alpha and Beta versions, and very well be the most popular of the three. The Charlie mounts one large and two medium pulse lasers in each arm, two medium pulse lasers in each side torso, and an ER large laser in the center. The standard ECM suite, and a targeting computer complete the configuration. Heat is quite manageable, and allows a pilot to only switch his fire solutions sparingly.

The Delta configuration departs from the previous variants, mounting a large pulse laser and a pair of LRM-5 launchers in each arm. An ER medium laser rests in the center torso, while a Gauss Rifle and two tons of ammo sit in the right torso. The left torso carries the bulk fo the LRM array, positioning five LRM-5 launchers in the beefy chest of the Nova Wolf. A total of four tons of reloads ensure the Delta won't run out of missiles anytime soon. Finally, the ECM suite and atargeting computer are mounted in the head and torso, respectively.

The final known configuration is the Epsilon, and is the sole knownnon-jumping Nova Wolf configuration. Known as the heavy-assault version,it mounts some of the deadliest weapons to be found amongst the Inner Sphere and Clans combined. A Gauss rifle and Ultra assault-type autocannon take up opposing mounts in the arms, and an ATM-12 sits in each side torso, supplied with five tons of ammuntion. Two each of ER small and medium lasers provide close-rnge backup if needed. ECM gear is installed in thehead assembly to defeat enemy electronics.

Two sub-variants, the Epsilon-A, and Epsilon-B, switch out the Guass for another autocannon, or vice-versa.
